Spoonful of sugar! Remember that song? For me, the lyric "a spoonful of sugar" is a vivid way of expressing how an unpleasant situation can be made truly wonderful. In other words, how a little sugar, or love, can change everything. It's amazing how God can take our talents, or anything we enjoy doing, and use them for His purpose. This very brief BIO outlines how He took the music in my life and added a spoonful of sugar. I'll focus on the sugar and not the medicine. We can talk about the medicine another time. I grew up in Santa Monica, California, without much sugar. I was drawn to music at an early age as a way to express myself. I started playing pots and pans around 6 years old and sang my first song in public around 8 years old. I did not "study" music until I got to High School when my sister Peggy suggested I join the A cappella Choir. In 1966 I was drafted into the Army when I decided to skip a semester of College and play music. When I got out of the Army I began playing music, again, with some friends I knew from High School and College. After being kicked out of a group called FARM, in 1973, I was led to Cal State University Long Beach where a spoonful of grace changed my life forever. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The emptiness that once ruled my life was replaced with a relationship. God's Word, once hidden from my eyes, became alive and powerful, and a new song was written. I began attending Church and fellowshiping with musicians at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa. I made a ton of mistakes a long the way, but, the Lord graciously allowed me to share my faith, through music, and my life became like the dew that sparkles on the morning grass, or, as the song says, "a spoonful of sugar."
