Genre?
Maemeeti.com placed Triumph in their
Lounge/Ambient/Chill out category. (In
fact, you can go to it at
http://maemeeti.com/Lounge_Ambient_Chi
ll_Out.htm and vote for it!)
Struggling with a genre tag for some
of this music has been quite
problematic.
A recent review by a quite talented
musician called it Hyper-Intellectual.
After much thought we were wondering
if perhaps we should coin a new genre
and call it something like Hyper
Intellectual Pop or Hyper Intellectual
Pop.
How does that strike you? Let us know
what you think please!
Higher Than Poetry
You may already be familiar with the
Higher Than Pope blog at
http://www.soundclick.com/members/defa
ult.cfm?member=Higher+Than+Pope (look
at the member profile, not the artist
page) and are aware that we presume to
write poetry. The poems were sent off
to a trusted editorial board, letting
them select what shall be included.
Preparation will no doubt take awhile
(judging by the time it took for my
last book).
Our thinking right now is to make only
a paperback available and keep the
cost down. If you are interested in a
hard cover, let us know. We'll see if
it becomes practical.
If you want to hear about the book's
availability, sign up on the Higher
Than Pope mailing list (see below).
Our intent is to allow folk to order
copies direct from me if they would
like me to write a note and sign their
copies. Those copies will be available
prior to public sale. Don't worry
about lots of emails on the mailing
list...I seldom use it (once or twice
during the last year?) Anyone is
welcome to send me us email for any
type of inquiry. pope at
semanticrecords dot com or through
Reverbnation.com.
A Force of Nature
Chorus:
Like a force of nature,
an act of pure will,
I'm the gathering storm
at the top of your hill.
Like a force of nature
there's no tellin' when,
this storm will come
and hit you again.
You feel it too,
the magnet of desire.
Love is our flame.
We're moths dreaming this fire.
I don't know why
our dreams fall from the sky.
Time cures all,
except for the day you die.
You are the flower.
My words are the hummingbirds.
Love is the word.
There is nothing left but the words.
Where there is will,
there must always be a way.
Sometimes the words
don't really know what they say.
Dramas unfold.
We're actors on life's stage.
You read the script.
Someone else turns the page.
You know right now,
my thoughts are ink in my pen.
We know this storm.
We don't need no weathermen.
This song must come,
an undeniable source.
It rages forth
an irresistible force.
Compelled to play,
never matters what I say.
I am the wind.
I am gonna blow you away.
