Slow Recovery's Information

Lawton, OK

Rock/Indie Rock/Alt.Country

About Us:
Slow Recovery is Chip Bates and David Nelms. These two musicians started playing together two decades ago as teenagers in high school. After several bands, recording projects, and 18 years they have come together again to unleash their unique take on rock. Chip Bates is currently based out of Lawton,Ok. He has been playing bass for over 20 years. He has a love for rock and a passion for the blues. Chip has been a collabrative artist working with people like: George Wallentin from Austria, Bjorn from Sweden, Gary Paul, South Carolina, Phil Johnson in North Carolina, Chris Bowen from Primo Recording, and now David Nelms of Revolution9000/Lumberjack Mafia. Chip takes great pride in having worked with musicians who feel music in their soul. Most of the projects Chip Bates has worked on have been rock or pop oriented, but, with his distinct and soulful vocal style, most agree: his unique stamp on songs always shines through. David Nelms is based out of Round Rock,Tx and has been playing guitar for over 20 years. He has built a following over the past two decades with bands like Fear of Reason, Madame Sloth, Lumberjack Mafia, and his recording project: Revolution9000. David's guitar style is genre bending and almost chameleon like, but his foundation is most solidly rock. David Nelms sound is unique and easily distinguished from all other musicians. Whether he's shredding a mind blowing riff or playing heartfelt acoustic, there is no doubt who the axe wielder is!!

Hello, you had a question about setting songs up for karaoke. Once the audio is set (studio mix recorded without lead vocal), the software that we have used is from MicroTechnology at They have a complete set of software for creation of the lyric & audio sync and the CD-G karaoke disk creation (instructions are included). They also have karaoke software necessary for running a karaoke show. As a side note, although the software claims that any standard CD Burner can be used to burn CD-G disks, I recommend one that is rated for burning CD-G Text graphics as well (look at the site for details). If you have any other questions, you can contact me directly. Paul

Cool Story! I'm pretty familiar with both Lawton and Round Rock. Hoodys Subs, The Percussion Museum, and Fort Sill! Interesting production, I like the sonic qualities and varied feels around the vocals and guitar fills! I'm a sucker for anybody that willingly goes out of their way to put their unique touch in the mastering! I hate the big sterile pop production nowadays! Good Luck! Really liked your stuff!

TELL EVERY ONE ABOUT IMRadio -- Got to thinking. What if each of us independent musicians told our family, friends, fans and acquaintances about, how besides the main stations, it has stations for each of the states individually, 52 countries, and just about every musical genre -- reaching any internet connection around the world. We could tell them in person, on the internet or at small or large venues. Anyone we tell would appreciate the convenience of such good music from independent musicians on their computer. It would be such a good way to help all of us reach even more listeners. With IMRadio, we aren't just waiting at the mercy of some major label to decide whether or not they will let us be heard around the world. There are enough of us that the outreach could be exponential. And, wouldn't it be a great way to say 'thank you' to Paddy and all of the other fine folks who have put on the world's musical map. They have put in money, time, energy and dedication, and all they have asked of us in return is to upload our music and profile. I am sure that they have great plans to publicize IMRadio and bring it to even more listeners. In the meantime, through, wouldn't it be great if we could all help a little by just taking a little time each day to tell family, friends, fans and acquaintances about IMRadio. It wouldn't cost a dime, just a little time. Yours, in Musical Solidarity, Paul.
