About Us:
"Experimental, serene and surreal." (Sarah Craig, Caffe Lena) "Hurling shotgun shells at a wedding party, brother half-cocked at the pulpit, nausea always skimming just beneath what's cheated you, it's all coming up..." ("Talon of the Blackwater and Graces") Talon of the Blackwater, Berklee graduate Laura Siersema's third independent release, is "fiercely original", challenging and ambitious. Lush, complex layers transform the folk music of her childhood with fluid guitars, synthesizers, piano, cello, fretless bass, percussion and the unique high qualities of her voice into a "depth and scale of music so strong, a soul searing connection to it becomes inevitable." "The major labels are always looking for artists who fit in neat categories, to simplify their marketing efforts. Artists know this, and try to make music that will fit. But some artists are driven to make music that falls between the cracks, that fits no musical genre very well at all. Sometimes, there are traces of various musical genres, but combined in unexpected ways. And sometimes there is no genre that can describe the music fairly. Always, these artists show a fierce originality. Some of the worst music I have ever heard is like this; the artist creates something abstract, without the slightest regard to connecting with their potential listeners. But some of the best music I have ever heard also defies categorization. Just as the English language is neither French nor German, but is derived from both, this music is a new language, but one that speaks eloquently." (Oliver di Place blog on Laura's work) Produced by Jay Hovnanian and mastered by Jeff Lipton, this album features Michael Farquharson (MCA artist/Juno nominee), T Lavitz (Grammy nominee of the Dixie Dregs), Eugene Friesen (Grammy winning Paul Winter Consort), Nick Falk and Marcelo Woloski (Maeve Gilchrist Group), Nate Comp (Josh Logan Band), Bruce J. LeBlanc and Alastair Moock. Laura has played at art festivals and venues around the United States and opened for John Gorka, Cheryl Wheeler, Connie Kaldor, Dana Cooper and Lori McKenna. Her poetry has been published in Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review, Cream City Review, Lullwater Poetry Review, and others. She is a graduate of the University of Florida in nursing and Berklee College of Music in songwriting. Her previous releases, When I Left Loss and Love Flows Like the Blood of a River (with Eugene Friesen, cello, and Steve Wilkes, percussion) contain unique combinations of songs and spoken word pieces that

TELL EVERY ONE ABOUT IMRadio -- Got to thinking. What if each of us independent musicians told our family, friends, fans and acquaintances about IMRadio.com, how besides the main stations, it has stations for each of the states individually, 75 countries, and just about every musical genre -- reaching any internet connection around the world. We could tell them in person, on the internet or at small or large venues. Anyone we tell would appreciate the convenience of such good music from independent musicians on their computer. It would be such a good way to help all of us reach even more listeners. With IMRadio, we aren't just waiting at the mercy of some major label to decide whether or not they will let us be heard around the world. There are enough of us that the outreach could be exponential. And, wouldn't it be a great way to say 'thank you' to Paddy and all of the other fine folks who have put IMRadio.com on the world's musical map. They have put in money, time, energy and dedication, and all they have asked of us in return is to upload our music and profile. I am sure that they have great plans to publicize IMRadio and bring it to even more listeners. In the meantime, though, wouldn't it be great if we could all help a little by just taking a little time each day to tell family, friends, fans and acquaintances about IMRadio. It wouldn't cost a dime, just a little time. Yours, in Musical Solidarity, Paul.
