Roc And Roll: Roc Zonte Rocks the House
"You know what I do when I play live?" asks Roc
Zonte. "You know that Helen Reddy song, 'I Am
Woman'? I go, 'I am woman hear me roar, I don't do
dishes anymore. Take that toilet brush and shove
it up your...'" What follows is a rather bold
suggestion for said brush. But then this is from a
feisty spirit who sings, "Girls like us don't give
a damn if you think we're naughty."
Roc Zonte "Sanity"
Listening to Roc Zonte's album is a fascinating
experience with many contradictions. The first
song, "Sanity", starts off quietly, then builds up
a rich, almost symphonic, texture by layering
different kinds of guitar tones. She plays all of
the guitar parts, and has a remarkable creative
sense for how to combine them together. Then all
of this rich texture collapses into a single rock
and roll power riff. The transition is very
effective --"Music Today"
