Music industry frustration!
It’s so discouraging to be a recording artist in
todays world.
All of your emotions and inner feelings go into
your music.
You put in tremendous amounts of time and energy
and money into your projects. It all adds up to a
big fat freaking disappointment. This becomes so
apparent when watching shows like Love and HipHop.
Great artist like olivia who is a master of her
craft, a great singer and a great songwriter is
shown struggling to get industry recognition. In
the latest episode olivia’s manager rich dollaz
cries bitter tears over the frustration of not
being able to make things happen for his artist.
My team and i feel the same way and i have shed so
many tears. As a independent artist with no
backing from an investor or well established
record company it’s so difficult and almost
impossible it seems to reach the level where you
can make a living just by your music.
I was so upset when jive records A&R executive
wayne williams down played the success that olivia
had with her song december.
For olivia to get thousands of plays on radio and
millions of youtube hits with no support from a
big label is a major accomplishment. I think that
the reality is that the days of the recording
contract as we know it are over.
Record labels are not actively looking to signup
new talent and develop it. They just are not
making the money.
In my view one of the reasons they are not making
the money is because they put out infantile junk.
Who wants to pay their hard earned money for music
that a twelve year old can make on a computer.
Where are the real musicians in R&B productions,
where are the solos from the players who have
spent their lives learning their instruments. It’s
all leading to an a bad situation for artists and
record companies. My team has put on many showcase
shows and we have invited many recording industry
a&r people, music critics and journalist and they
just don’t even show up.
They will tell you they are gonna be there but
they don’t show. My last show at Club Groove in
New york city was standing room only, but no music
industry people showed up.
I don’t know about other genres but as far as R&B
is concerned i don’t think anyone cares anymore.
The industry is content with beyonce and rihanna
and mary j blige and a few others. Where does that
leave artists like me niva the soul diva. I just
don’t know!

TELL EVERY ONE ABOUT
IMRadio -- Got to
thinking. What if each of
us independent musicians
told our family, friends,
fans and acquaintances
about IMRadio.com, how
besides the main
stations, it has stations
for each of the states
individually, 75
countries, and just about
every musical genre --
reaching any internet
connection around the
world. We could tell them
in person, on the
internet or at small or
large venues. Anyone we
tell would appreciate the
convenience of such good
music from independent
musicians on their
computer. It would be
such a good way to help
all of us reach even more
listeners. With IMRadio,
we aren't just waiting at
the mercy of some major
label to decide whether
or not they will let us
be heard around the
world. There are enough
of us that the outreach
could be exponential.
And, wouldn't it be a
great way to say 'thank
you' to Paddy and all of
the other fine folks who
have put IMRadio.com on
the world's musical map.
They have put in money,
time, energy and
dedication, and all they
have asked of us in
return is to upload our
music and profile. I am
sure that they have great
plans to publicize
IMRadio and bring it to
even more listeners. In
the meantime, though,
wouldn't it be great if
we could all help a
little by just taking a
little time each day to
tell family, friends,
fans and acquaintances
about IMRadio. It
wouldn't cost a dime,
just a little time.
Yours, in Musical
Solidarity, Paul.
