Hi everyone! Nargis is a work in progress. This CD is only a taste of what’s come. My experience of the cyclone Nargis, that hit Myanmar in 2008 and my feelings for the Myanmar people are here expressed in music and lyrics. Beginning of May 2008 the cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar (Burma) and brought great devastation with it. Hundreds of thousands of people died and a lot more were left homeless. After this cruel experience I felt a need to write and since music is closest to my heart it came out as a CD recording in Yangon with burmese musicians. This first recording is to be considered as a start of a bigger project that hopefully will end in a full length musical. The Nargis project is aimed to be a musical which tells the story about what happened the night between May 2:nd and 3:rd and how ordinary people were affected by the cyclone, how life totally changed in just a few hours. The worst hit were the people living in the delta area where a huge surge wiped out everything. Part of the income from the CD and the performings will go to helping children who lost their parents that horrible night and are now living in terrible conditions at orphanages. It is also a reminder to the western world that Burma is not just the regime, it is also the people who has to fight for survival, for things we take for granted.
