Project Grapevine is a production
concept concieved by Ron
Richardson,former electric bassist and
musical director for the late-great
Phyllis Hyman.Ron worked with Phyllis
for the last 8 years and 8 months of
her life.He was her musical director
for the last year and a half of her
life.She committed suicide in June of
1995.Ron first began to develop his
songwriting skills as a founding
member of the New York-based
jazz-funk-fusion band "Axium".He wrote
the majority of the band's music from
it's inception to it's end.(1984 -
1989).Ron has also toured/recorded
with Roy Ayers(6 and one half
years)Bill Withers,the late Noel
Pointer,Ronnie Laws, Jean Carne,Will
Downing,Bobbie Humphrey,Angela
Bofill,Lonnie Liston Smith and Tom
Browne.Project Grapevine combines many
musical colors and flavors.It was
concieved with the idea of blending
many idioms along with jazz to take
the listener on a musical
journey,while never loosing the
ability to groove.
