The Real Story of the Indie Artist (Part 1)
In our perfect world, the Indie artist would
love their music to easily reach the entire world
as we want as many people as possible exposed to
our music. After all, it is the main objective of
marketing. Get your product out there! And this
is what we aim to do, slotted in between gigs,
prepping stage songs (for our cover bands),
writing songs, rehearsing, and all the other day
to day stuff.
Unfortunately, most of us have to admit that we
are no marketing geniuses. The music end we’ve
got a handle on, but bringing to fruition an
autograph session after a sold out concert in
Japan, well.. that’s a tad challenging. So we
brainstorm with our own kind, and with those we
think might know, picking up tips on what
strategies tend to work... and others that don’t.
It’s all a daunting task this promotion thing.
Afterall, we are singers and songwriters,
musicians and audio engineers, producers and...
what!?
Now I gotta do this!?! It can truly be
overwhelming.
This is where the interactive part comes in...
;-). I welcome (trans: “need”) ideas, thoughts,
suggestions, and most importantly your help in
promoting the music. Something simple like a
shout out on Facebook along with a link and/or
posting an excerpt of a song on your MySpace
page... would be a great help. I have other ideas
as well. I would like to hear yours. There are a
thousand more songs in me. Any help would go a
long way in helping to get them written. Please
let me know. Please let each other know...

HI John. Listened to No
One Ever Told Me. Nice
groove, good voice and
SAX! Kind of Smooth
Jazzy. Music changes
enough to maintain
interest through the
song. You really just
have to do your music,
the marketers need
something to market.
Two sides of musical and
literal mortality.
